What to Do when Your Own Wedding Photos Fail You

Large

Now that the wedding’s over, the thought of receiving the photos definitely keeps racing inside your head. You can’t help thinking about how they’re going to turn out and the fact that the photographer is taking too long to edit them! You probably even have spaces already saved for the wedding photos, you might’ve even bought yourself a couple (a dozen) of frames. Well, sometimes, wedding photos don’t turn out as expected. Sorry, but it happens and when it does, you’ll be furious.

However, instead of dwelling on your feelings of anger, how about we try to think together about practical ways to fix the issue at hand? Luckily, it's not the end of the world and there are many solutions to your problem.

Now, let’s get to it:

1. Stop criticizing yourself:

This is the first and most important step. Stop criticizing how you look in the photos, your weight, your hair, your posture, just stop. You want to fix the problem and not fuel yourself with hate. Secondly, your first look at the wedding photos should be at a time when you’re calm and relaxed because you don’t want to react in a way that you’ll regret later. Besides, getting angry at things never fixed them.

2. A do-over:

No, no, we’re not talking about the wedding so, stay calm! We’re talking about a second photoshoot, another chance at getting the shots you want! You don’t even have to wear the same outfits again if you don’t want to. Surely, the thrill and the feelings won’t be the same as when you were about to tie the knot, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t fall in love with the new photographs. Give yourselves a chance to make things right. You won’t regret it.

3. Have you heard of editing?:

Take another look at the photos and see if they have any editing potential. If it’s about how you look, airbrushing can fix it! If the photos are too dark or if the colors are too bland, a good editor can certainly change this around! If you don’t trust your photographer anymore, you can always ask someone else to edit them for you. There are countless professionals out there.

4. Low-quality photos:

In case the quality of your photographs is so bad that you won’t even be able to print any of them out, you can always create a video out of these photographs to keep the memory alive in a cool way! Videos can be created using photos of almost any quality.

5. Framing:

Although you may not necessarily be in love with the photographs, the right photo frame might just be the answer to your problems. Frames make a big difference so, give that one some thought. You only need a couple of frames that look so good, all the attention is going to automatically go straight to them.

 6. Black & White:

This is the last resolve. If the issue with your wedding photographs has to do with bad lighting or coloring, you can always go for B&W, which will also give them a nice vintage look. Not only that, but black and white also hides a ton of flaws in photographs. A timeless idea that never goes out of fashion and one that might just save the day.
