Does the word “Lifetime” sound terrifying? Are you afraid of being stuck, overwhelmed, or bored? Is the feeling of being “Newlyweds” starting to fade away? 3 months have passed and you’ve already gone back to work, started reminiscing over your Honeymoon memories, and begun delving into your pre-marriage norms. Add to that your new lifestyle as husband and wife. Then comes that moment when you ask yourself “Ok, now what?!”

Let us sneak you a tip, you need nothing now more than being fond of your life.

Here are some suggested weekly rituals for both of you to make a special routine out of your every week.

Visit someone special:

Usually, family visits take place during the weekend and that makes a weekly routine out of them, kind of. What you can both agree on and start doing as a couple is decide on a different visit each weekend. It may be to one of your families, it can be to a close friend, it can be a special visit to someone you never visited before or even a big gathering at your place. Whenever you agree on that, the visit will alter from being a task and a hectic routine to being a fun thing that you enjoy doing together.

Become a master at hosting:

Invite some friends over for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Enjoy the fact that you have your own home now and that you can invite whoever you want whenever you decide to. Turn your new house into a cozy home by throwing in different activities that both you and your friends can get on board with, like hosting movie nights, game nights, board game nights, etc.

Check-in:

Living with each other doesn’t mean that you don’t have to check-in from time to time and ask about things. Think of it as your unique weekly retreat, something that you created together to suit you two and only you two. Take notes all through the week of anything notable that you want to discuss with your spouse. You may even call it your weekly official meeting. Just don’t take it too formally.

Connect in every way that you can:

Your weekends together are so important and valuable. A weekly habit can be something to look forward to. Have any kind of meal together, just the two of you. You can have breakfast, lunch, dinner, or you can even talk over a cup of coffee. What matters is having a fixed time for yourselves. A time to connect in every way you could, which includes getting intimate, cuddling, talking, confessing, forgiving, discussing, and communicating spiritually and physically. Having that kind of passion and eagerness is what allows your marriage to age well and become more solid. Keep the tenderness alive and always be kind.

Start dating again:

It’s the best decision you can make once you’ve settled down. Start dating your spouse again with the same passion and enthusiasm that you both had before marrying. Plan trips together: Go hiking, camp by the sea, go on safaris, go somewhere new, go cycling... It doesn’t really matter what you do exactly, what matters is the decision to keep on changing things up and always trying out new things together. Keep the love alive!

Get inventive:

Life is messy and always surprising, so don’t wait for it. Challenge your creativity and try to come up on your own with new things to do. You can invent a game, write down a list of fun questions, enjoy an evening at your favorite coffee place, write! Write about anything, write whatever comes out! If you can’t enjoy the small things, you won’t be able to make it. Yes, you’re an adult, but why should you let that get in the way of enjoying the beautiful little things in life?
