Wedding Cake Trends For This Summer!

Large

Summer is here, and with the relaxing breeze, fresh hot sun, and all things fun by the beach, summer weddings of course are in need of summer wedding cakes. There are so many trends to look forward too this summer, but our favourite are definitely wedding cake trends that we’ll be seeing all over the summer weddings. From the extravagant to the refreshing to the simple but satisfying, there are so many different wedding cake trends and we’re going to unpack them all!

Mini Cakes

There is nothing wrong with going mini, especially if it’s an intimate gathering and you are offering more than just one dessert. Gone are the days of one big cake that doesn’t quite taste all that great and is so large it’s impossible to move. Instead, we are ushering in mini cakes that are both delicious and easy to manoeuvre. A tier or two at most is all you need for your wedding cake if you are planning on having a variety of desserts that go with it.

A Twist On Design

Considering most cakes are about a tier or two most, wedding cakes now have to have a unique element or design. What used to be the magnificence of having a wedding cake that’s larger than life, is now having a beautiful wedding cake that is intricately designed to showcase the craftsmanship and time that went into making it. Not only that but also playing around with colours, textures, and different ingredient options to add a touch of flair to the wedding cake is also encouraged and very in season. From fruits to flowers there is a lot of ways to add embellishments and edible accessories to your wedding cake this summer. Our favourites are definitely using some rosemary and lavender plants to give your cake a floral touch with some flavour, also textured icing is a huge hit especially in the summer.

Solo Desserts

Another great trend to really capitalise on this summer is individualised or solo desserts. A great option if you want to make sure portion control is in definite effect, or if you want to stay sanitary during your wedding and the dessert portion of the ceremony. It’s also a great option if some of your guest-list has dietary restrictions or can not eat specific ingredients. The solo dessert is perfect because you can have a variety while also ensuring that each guest has their own dessert they can enjoy.
