The Day after the Wedding: How to Spend Your First Day as Husband and Wife!

Large

It’s the day after the wedding and the first day you spend together as husband and wife. It’s the beginning of an end; a beautiful closure to all the planning and preparations and the starting point of a journey you’re going on together. Today, you are starting a new chapter of your life and you get to write the story.

This article is by no means meant to tell you how to spend the day after your wedding, it is simply a reminder of a few things you’ll probably need to do and perhaps a source of inspiration that could give you a few ideas on how to spend the day. This is a day where you should lose yourself completely to the person you love. You will discover new ways to love and to show that love. As we said, this story is completely yours.

It’s time to relax:

After days of endless planning and prepping, it’s finally time to catch your breath and take a break. And not just any break! It’s that kind of break that comes with a surprising reward; your loved one lying right there next to you.

Spend the day at home:

Just keep it simple on the first day. Take your time to recover from all the physical and mental effort you exerted throughout the entire prepping phase. It would be great to just spend the day in and enjoy each other’s company. That in itself is quite a change, it’s everything you’ve longed for but also everything that you’re not used to. Savor it!

Have breakfast in bed:

One of the most romantic things you could do for your spouse the morning after your wedding is cook them a mouthwatering breakfast, served in bed. If you’re staying the night at a hotel, simply have your food delivered to your room and spend the whole day relaxed and well fed!

Return wedding rentals:

Whether you’re returning your tuxedo, dress, or car, you need to have your stuff picked up and sent to the cleaners before the final trip back to who they belong to. Take it as a rule: Never send back anything late or dirty.

Send your outfits to the cleaners:

Have your tuxedo and your wedding dress cleaned and preserved. If you are traveling right after the wedding ends, assign someone to run this errand for you.

Pack for your honeymoon:

In case you couldn't find time to pack for your honeymoon, now is the time to do so, unless it’s still weeks ahead.

Have a brunch gathering:

You could have a brunch gathering with your close family and friends during the afternoon before you set off for your honeymoon. This would be more suitable for destination weddings, where you are all probably already gathered at the same place.

Discover romance:

There is no need to say that this day will be one of the most romantic days you’ll spend together. Savor each and every moment of discovering your love for each other in ways you never did before.  Set up a romantic ambiance to help you get in the mood and loosen up more.

Get physical:

Without a doubt, the highlight of the day is getting physical with each other. Take your time to get more physically comfortable with your spouse. Don’t rush things too much at first. After setting a romantic mood, loosen up and get down to business.
