The Bride: Time to Kiss Chapped Lips Goodbye

Large

Taking care of your lips and pampering them isn’t as hard as you may think. Trying to reach your goal of having full, luscious lips isn’t a far fetched dream for any bride because if anything, lip care is both easy and fun. Not only that, but just like getting inked, lip care can be addictive and it’s a healthy kind of addiction where you feel like you can’t have your lips be chapped or dry at any given point in time and not for anyone, but for yourself. If you follow the below steps, you’re guaranteed to have soft, beautiful lips that you’re going to want to show off on your wedding day! And that’s alright because there’s no shame in your game, sister:

1. Lip scrub

Girl, your lips need scrubbing 2 times a week and I say 2 because lip tissue is so sensitive and could easily get cut. We want to avoid bleeding, no? Ever notice a white film that starts forming on your lips at times? That’s all dead skin that’s begging to be scrubbed off. Lip scrubs are everywhere and they come in the yummiest flavors because they contain sugar! However, if you want to make your own natural, homemade scrub, here’s your recipe: Mix two teaspoons of brown sugar and one tablespoon of olive or coconut oil in a small container and there you have it. Yes, it’s that easy. You can also replace oil with raw honey and then add a few drops of essential oil at the end, like lavender or peppermint. When your “Bridal” scrub’s ready, rub it well on your lips in circular motions, then wash it off with lukewarm water and finally, moisturize. I can’t stress enough the importance of moisturizing after scrubbing.

2. Lip balm

Honestly, I don’t even know how you still haven’t figured that one out yet. Lip balms are a basic need and necessity for ALL GENDERS because well, we all have lips, duh. Avoid commercial balms with fragrances and those that contain salicylic acid, phenol, menthol, and camphor because they can seriously make chapped lips worse. Avoid vaseline as well because it doesn’t actually moisturize the lips, it only seals in the moisture that is already there. Lastly, you gotta carry lip balm on you throughout your wedding day because you'll certainly need it.

3. Water

It always comes down to water and how much you hydrate. Constant hydrating certainly affects the state of your lips because a dehydrated body equals dehydrated lips. Drink tons of water because your body needs at least 3 liters of it a day, and always remember that a dehydrated bride is a tired bride

4. Night care

Try to make it a habit to always moisturize your lips before you go to sleep because our lips lose moisture throughout the night. Go for balms that contain natural oils and shea butter. If you keep up the routine, you'll surely have amazing looking lips by the time of your wedding.

5. Smoking

One of the many harmful effects of smoking is that it leaves your skin dry and bland and this doesn’t exclude the shape, color, and state of your lips. Eventually, smoking will devoid your lips of its natural pink color and cause it to become dark and juiceless.
