The Best Wedding Gowns From Films We Still Can’t Forget!

Large

When watching a good rom-com, or any film with a wedding for that matter, we can’t help but judge the wedding gown that the main character wears. Some film wedding gowns start trends that last for years and are stored in a pop culture archive were all soon to be brides decide to reference and get back too when they are picking a gown. There are so many that we can’t forget but we picked out the best that we can remember, the ones that we can never forget and will stay timeless forever.

Funny Face (1957)

It’s no surprise that Audrey Hepburn started many different trends that shaped fashion and style today. In the movie Funny Face alone she debuted so many different styles and silhouettes, it was truly a fashion show wrapped in a beautiful story with a big red bow. So of course we had to mention the simple Givenchy wedding gown that was shown in the movie. A timeless classic made for a more petite bride the gown was made with tulle and no intricate detailing but still managed to take our breath away. Did we also mention that it inspired Zoe Kravitz’ wedding gown as well?

Love Actually (2003)

The movie was one for the books when it comes to romance, and Kiera Knightley’s wedding gown outfit is one we will never forget. It’s not so much as the dress was breathtaking but rather the coat on top of it. The feathered, sheer, excellence that was this wedding gown coat was beautiful, dainty, and one we would like to wear forever. The little feather addition in the hair really tied it all together and just made the simple yet feminine look complete.

Sex And The City (2008)

You can’t go through a list of iconic film wedding gowns without mentioning Carrie Bradshaws, Vivienne Westwood gown. A literal dream from the cut to the skirt and the extra detailing in the headpiece we were bewildered by its beauty. It was so sad that the wedding didn’t go through (sorry for the spoiler) but we were just happy we got to see so many different angles of this beautiful gown. A strapless, satin, ballgown that made its way to wedding gown history.

Bride Wars (2009)

An honourable mention because it was one of the very few movies that didn’t give us just one wedding gown but two, beautifully constructed gowns, and weddings. A story of friendship, fun, and the importance of booking your venue early so you don’t share a date with your maid of honour. Although we have to say the true lucky girl of the movie is Kate Hudson who got to wear a stunning strapless, drop waist, tulle ballgown with a lace bodice and velvet sash. What a dream!
