“I am the bride” the Groom Said

Real life story on how a groom took on his bride’s role!

Large

It is quite understandable to most people when a groom starts freaking out and acting like a groomzilla during the wedding preparation phase. However, what is perhaps unusual is when a groom takes over his bride’s role entirely! And that is what astonishingly happened to Zach.

Zach Baron is a writer on GQ website who writes different articles on music, cinema, and art. We came across his article “I am groomzilla” which definitely caught our attention.  Let us take you through Zach’s real-life experience which eventually led him to state in an absolute tone “I am the Bride”!

-The proposal:

“I got down on one knee and proposed to the woman I love.”

First Zach started telling his story like any man who falls head over heels in love. In his article, he takes us through his proposal and how his bride looked magnificent with romantic lights all around her. He came down on one knee and proposed without thinking much about what might happen next. Surprisingly out of nowhere Zach found himself being called “the bride” and started to act like one!

-How it started:

“Calling me the bride began as a joke between us.”

He knew that his fiancé had no intention of doing what other brides do when the wedding haul began from choosing the date of the wedding, venues, caterers, musicians, and so on. One day they went to check out a wedding venue and the salesman started pitching nonstop, Zach’s bride dozed off while Zach himself was very keen to know every teeny tiny detail about the wedding. From this exact moment, Zach took the wheel and kept on driving solo until they made it to their wedding day.

-The realization:

” What I can’t remember is the moment, some weeks later, when I realized that I was the bride.”

Zach attended to all the wedding preparation details right from choosing the attire, flowers, menu, and table centerpieces to the wedding transportation. He started visualizing everything happening at the wedding starting from the bridal dress, the groomsmen suits, to the children walking down the aisle in front of his bride all creating a subliminal enchanting scene. Ironically the groom realized that he actually enjoyed becoming a “bride”. He realized that he has become what some people might call a groomzilla!

-Understanding:

“Women have been expected to wade through a polluted river of lace garbage and having to pretend the entire time that the experience was a dream coming true.”

After the realization and being a groomzilla himself, Zach came to understand what brides go through by actually experiencing the process himself and loving every minute of it. He was surprised by how smart women deal with different people like wedding vendors or guests. Like the ability to keep a balance between appearing to be happy and excited about the wedding while at the same time being firm enough to ensure that everything is going according to plan.

Most importantly he understood that being the bride is one hell of a tough job and experience of its kind full of hard work, challenges, and overwhelming emotions.

-Shout out to men:

“If your wife planned your wedding even if it was decades ago you owe her a diamond facial.”

You might think that perhaps our writer here has exaggerated a bit on this one but what he really wants to say is that women really do go through a lot for planning the perfect wedding. The least that could be done is to show them gratitude and appreciation for their efforts in a special way.

Of course, not all people must exactly go through what Zack has gone through in order for them to understand that being a bride is a no easy job! However, Zach’s experience might encourage grooms and give them a clearer insight to share their journeys of planning their weddings with their brides to be and not be afraid to take part in the process.
