How to help:

• Help with unfinished tasks:

Well, most brides and grooms don’t get every single task done before the wedding. The quarantine is a great opportunity to get everything done on time. Be there to remind them of the positive side of postponing the wedding and help out with getting the tasks done.

• Quarantine challenges:

Since you have more time to spare now you can create different challenges among your group of friends to get things done during the quarantine. You can create a home workout challenge or a detox nutrition plan, or a beauty skincare routine for a certain period of time and see the results in the end.

• Surprise them:

Surprise them with a gift sent to their doorstep. Imagine their reaction to your gift when it arrives at their door! it doesn't matter what the surprise is because what matters the most is how it will make them feel afterward.

• Arrange for an online party:

Gather the rest of your friends’ group and have a conference call online to cheer them up a bit and let them know you’re here with them having a party anyway.

• Book club or movie discussions:

The quarantine helped most of us do things we never had the time for before. Pick or vote on a book if you miss reading or if you prefer movies Netflix is at your service. Have online meetings to discuss the plot of the film or book.

Avoid:

• There is absolutely no way you’ll be able to understand what they’re going through so you’d better stay away from the sentence “I know what you’re going through”! Instead, offer to help in any way possible.

• Avoid saying “it will pass” because they probably know that already, instead just say you’re sorry this is happening and that you’ll be there for them and ready to help in anything.

• Avoid just stating your opinion and don’t give advice unless the couple is asking for it. In other words, don’t act like a know it all.

• On such matters try to stay away from saying philosophical statements thinking they will help because your friends are dealing with vendor contracts, deposits, travel plans, guest logistics, the possibility of losing quite a sum of money, and other details.
