How to Plan a Virtual Wedding during Coronavirus Pandemic?

Large

Many engaged couples are considering planning a virtual wedding during the Coronavirus crisis. Weddings are getting postponed or canceled and couples are stressing over planning their weddings as the government is limiting all social gatherings until God knows when! Could a virtual wedding be a solution to this crisis?

It’s understandable that many would find this solution very difficult to take because they would love to share this day with all their loved ones by their side. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t still have a wonderful day, complete with wedding vows, photos, blessings, love, and laughter shared with family and friends.

You can have the first families present at the ceremony with you while the rest of the guests join you online. Technology is on your side to plan your virtual wedding and at the same time keeping everyone safe.

Steps to plan your virtual wedding online:

1) Test your internet:

Let’s remind you that it’s an online live wedding. Make sure your internet connection is fast and strong and test it several times before the wedding on the device you’re planning to use.

2) Choose your platform:

Zoom:

You could choose the video conference software Zoom where you can host 100 people and meet up to 24 hours which will definitely cover the hours of the wedding party. The attendees could set up the speaker's view for your guests to clearly view the ceremony. You can choose the gallery view to see your guests on the screen. Designate one of the attendees to take screenshots of the reactions.

Facebook live:

Create a private group on FB and create an event to invite everyone and reserve their attendance. At the designated time of the wedding, the guests will join in to watch the ceremony live. FB can also play the role of a virtual guest book, with guests posting their wishes and blessings on the group and event prior and post the wedding.

3) Choose the right equipment:

Choose the device you’ll use to get live with whether it's your laptop, tablet, or phone. Just take care to mount a tripod to steady the device on it.

4) Invite your guests:

You can you Weds360’s guest list to make sure everyone gets your invitation especially if they are not on FB.  Include the Zoom meeting link in your online invitation, place it on the FB event or group, or send it to each guest separately.

5) Coordinate with vendors:

Even though it’s not going to be a real wedding, you’ll still get to hire a few vendors. You'll need a photographer and videographer to record the event while making sure to keep a social distance. Order a smaller sized wedding cake and dinner for the small gathering.

6) Lighting and decoration:

Get the place ready for the occasion. Style your virtual wedding, arrange the space, and set up strong yet romantic lighting. You could decorate the space using string lighting, candles, balloons, plants, flowers, an altar, and seating for the bride and groom.

7) Choose your wedding attire:

Having your wedding at home during Coronavirus shouldn’t stop you from getting married to your wedding attire! Get dressed for the occasion, get your hair done, wear your makeup, hold your bridal gerb, and just go for it!

8) Save a recording of the wedding:

We recommend recording your virtual wedding for the memory of this day so you can get back to it any time to the beautiful moments together. In case any of your guests couldn’t join for any technical issues they can still see the ceremony later on.
