Obviously, you're not booking just any trip, or else you simply wouldn’t be here reading this article, right?! Honeymoon planning could be one of the most exciting things there are. People even go so far as to claim that it’s the trip of their lives! As much as we wouldn’t love anything more than you having an amazing honeymoon and as much as we truly wish that this trip would be an initiation of so many more wonderful trips you get to share together, honeymoons require some serious research and preparation.

After you’ve decided on your honeymoon destination, you now need to attend to the travel arrangements. We trust that you’ve done your research in regards to choosing your honeymoon destination. However, your assignment doesn't end there. Be ready for a full-on planning expedition.

1.    “Early bird catches the worm”:

Again, it’s obvious that you need to start arranging your traveling papers as early as you can, that, plus working on receiving the visa, finalizing booking arrangements with hotels, and securing flight tickets. The earlier you book, the better chance you have of scoring the best deals and offers. Book your hotel and flights no later than 4 months before the wedding, keeping in mind that there are certain destinations that would require you to start earlier.

2.    It’s called “Off-season” for a reason:

Take care that while you’re in the middle of rummaging for special offers and reductions, you might stumble upon one that might seem like an insanely good deal. Sometimes, you spot these fine deals because it’s simply an off-season, which doesn’t make it a good deal, after all. It is called an “off-season” for a reason! Before you get too psyched over finding a mind-blowing offer, make sure that the weather is still suitable for your trip. Also, make sure that you could still do all the activities you are planning for while at it.

3.    Visa and travel documents:

Now, this is one of the things that could take a bit of time and that’s why, again, you need to start as early as possible. Some countries are not so flexible at allowing entries to "Developing countries", as we all know! The simplest dilemma that could take place is a delay in your visa processing. For that reason, you need to have all the required papers ready and remember to schedule an interview at the embassy early on, just in case you have any missing papers.

4.    Book your flights:

If you’re planning on touring around and visiting neighboring countries or cities, make sure to book any needed flights or train rides. It’s better to try and find out ahead of time if you’d like to visit other places, in order to determine the right budget for your expenses.

5.    Look for hotel packages:

There are many travel and hotel packages available that could ease your planning process. Skip the endless calculating and look for the packages that will save you time, effort, and money. However, review the packages very well and make sure that they align with what you have in mind!

6.    Consider travel agents:

Yes, travel agents could make the whole process seem like a cup of tea. They know the best deals, hotels, sites, flights, you name it! They will definitely save you a lot of trouble and effort, in fact, their job is to help you save money, in case you are worried about their expenses. They know what’s best out there and that’s why you should consider consulting one, for sure.

7.    Don’t settle for traditional travel plans:

In case you are dealing with a travel agency, check if the package contains the things that you really want. Don’t slack with doing your own research, the rest is up to the agency anyway! Remember that most travel agencies design their travel packages according to the country's most popular sites and touristic attractions. They probably won’t go the extra mile to find hidden gems for you.

8.    Hotel and room services:

If you have any special requests for your room, let the hotel know about them while you are booking your honeymoon. Do you, for example, want a king-sized bed, or perhaps a private pool? Also, make sure you specify the type of accommodation you want to book; whether it is all-inclusive or bed and breakfast only. All these details need to be considered while you are booking your hotel.
