How to make the eldest guests at your wedding comfortable?

Large

The eldest guests are often the most important in a wedding, whether they are parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles. They are the people who have waited for the day to see you married and happily enjoying the night with your partner. Although with the hustle and bustle of planning the night and getting the best entertainment, the most over the top designs, and the beautiful gown, it’s easy to forget that their comfort should be taken into accountability as well. So we came up with some helpful tips to consider when planning the seating and the guestlist for your older guests.

Comfort Is Key

The thing about seating is that it’s very hit or miss, especially if you are having a themed wedding. Of course, there should be a variety when considering the chairs, so maybe light normal chairs so they can easily be moved around and for the younger guests to put their things on and then consider bigger more comfortable seating for older guests to lounge on during the ceremony. Remember chunky doesn’t necessarily mean comfortable, so if you are thinking of having heavy velvet armchairs, sit in them and see if they are actually comfortable or just look comfortable to avoid future disappointment on their part.

Walking With Ease

This is made for those adventurous couples that are considering destination weddings or outdoor/ beach weddings. Walking is more tiresome as you get older, especially if you are walking with sand or on grass in fancy shoes that are not necessarily the most comfortable option to consider. Whether it is integrating pathways and walk ways for people to move with ease or taking into account that the seating areas are placed with wooden planks underneath, walking is an important thing to consider as well.

Turn That Music Down

We all know that throughout the night there will be loud music and guests dancing and people performing and it would turn into a fun party for the guests to enjoy with the newlyweds. What about the elder guests though? Those who are unlikely to dance and jump around and enjoy the action with the youngsters might want to sit and chat, or get caught up with some friends and family they haven’t seen recently. If the music is too loud they won’t be able to hear and won’t be able to talk in return. What is the thing most older people complain about? The noise. So try to avoid seating them next speakers or too close to the dance floor to ensure their comfort.

Last But Not Least

If you want your older guests to be comfortable at the wedding, consider having waiters or servers that bring them the food to the table instead of them having to get up for the buffet, and after they are done eating have them offer tea, coffee, some juice or dessert. It would make them satisfied with maximum convenience which is what we hope for.
