First impressions really do count

Large

First dates can be nerve racking and uncomfortable. With both sides trying to impress each other, we sometimes do rookie no-no mistakes like using our phones or revealing too much too soon. It’s important to let go of any expectations for your first date and go clear headed. Be yourself, be humble and make sure you include the person in conversations. Don’t be that awful date by avoiding these first date mistakes

Being late

Being late for any occasion is rude, especially if this is the first date. Don’t let lack of punctuality ruin the date. You’re making a first impression, show that your responsible and respectful of other’s time.

Not asking questions

Dates are about getting to know each other. Don’t let the date pass without asking the right questions. Not asking means you don’t care to know and might kill off the other person’s interest.

Being rude to the waiter

This Hollywood cliche holds a deep meaning! Being rude to the people serving you is insecure and disrespectful. Many view this as a red flag and will run for the door.

Using your phone

Checking phones on dates is the biggest mistake people make on first dates. No matter how nervous or eager you are to check your phone, leave it down! Playing on your phone is lazy and disrespectful.

Revealing too much

Although it’s nice to share somewhat personal stuff about yourself, don’t scare the person away with you deep insecurities and life problems. Revealing too much will give your date first row seats to your private life and put them in uncomfortable positions.

Only talking about yourself

Talking too much or only about yourself is truly narcissistic! You’re there to brag about your career or life achievements. Consider the person sitting with you and include them equally in the conversation.

Being too nervous

Yes, you can control how nervous you get. To help let go of first date nerves and anxiety, take deep breaths and let go of any expectations. Don’t let your nerves take over the date and freeze you up.
