Buffet Or Set Menu? The Longstanding Debate

Large

So are you more Buffet or Set Menu with your wedding planning? When it comes to planning a wedding, there comes the question of food. What will you serve your guests, and of course how will you serve it. There are tons of creative ways people are serving food at their wedding. From food trucks to small trays that get passed around to of course the different dessert bars and topping bars for desserts there is no shortage of creativity especially when it is surrounding food and serving it to a variety of guests. So we decided to ask the deadly question. Buffet or Set Menu? Which is better, more affordable, more hygienic and so on.

Buffet

The more Egyptian choice, of course, the buffet is a constant go-to for most weddings in the city. They work great especially if you have a lot of guests, or if you have guests that also happen to be picky eaters. Instead of restricting them to only a few options of what they can eat, you open the doors for them to eat whatever they want (within reason of course) and also give them room to go back for seconds. We’ve also heard it’s a win for the newlyweds because while everyone is lined up at the buffet trying to plate their meals, they can take a break and have a small cute check in with each other.

There are more reasons as to why buffets are a great option for your wedding. Other than the fact they are more affordable than set menus they are also a great choice if you have any guests with dietary restrictions. However they also cause a bit of a mess and lines can get pretty long so keep that in mind.

Set Menu

Arguably the more traditional route when it comes to serving food at your wedding. Set Menus offer little variety but are made to accommodate for children and elderly guests who might not enjoy standing in line for food at your wedding. It’s also a pro to consider for your food if you want to make sure all your food is served at the same time and everyone has a chance to mingle and enjoy their meal. Although you should know that plated menus are more expensive than buffet style weddings and are also limiting to the guest.

Our solution for when you are planning the food at your wedding and what you are going to serve is that you ensure there is a variety either in the buffet or the set menu to make sure that the guests needs are accommodated irregardless.
